The 8 wedding trends to follow in 2022
Planning on getting married this year and looking for some inspiration? Here is an update on the wedding trends to follow with Bénédicte Broquet, wedding planner.
2022 will be a banner year for weddings. In the United States, 2.6 million weddings are expected this year. If the figures are still unknown in Belgium, many lovers intend to put the ring on their finger. Need ideas to organize what will be the best day of your life? We asked Bénédicte Broquet, wedding planner at Imagine We and co-founder with Aurélie Leempoel of the Wedding Festival , the trends to follow in 2022.
1. MODERN
The dictatorship of the wedding dress is over. While traditional long dresses are still popular, jumpsuits and pants are on the rise this year. This alternative allows greater freedom of movement for the bride. Wear a fluid white jumpsuit or let yourself be tempted by accessorized pants and top. The must: a transparent veil that can be attached to the pants and the top, to transform your outfit during the day.
2. VINTAGE
In opposition to the first trend, the year 2022 also marks the strong comeback of vintage and reused dresses. The idea is to start from something authentic and bring it up to date. So we do not hesitate to “pimp” the old dresses of mom and grandma to create a new one.
3. TWICE AS MANY SHOES FOR TWICE AS MUCH FUN
Say goodbye to bells and sore feet. From now on, the bride sees things in a practical way: a pair of heels during the ceremony, a pair of white sneakers for afterwards. Always in the spirit of greater freedom of movement, we are putting everything into living this exceptional day to the fullest.
4. THE BOHEMIAN STYLE
Whether in terms of the bride’s outfit or the decoration of the room, the bohemian is attracting more and more couples. On dresses, this trend is mainly reflected in high collars and covering the necks. On the tables, we put everything on a floral and vegetal decoration. Logs acting as chairs, lights hanging from the branches of trees or even cushions placed in the grass. A single rule: rely on what nature offers us.
5. COLOR, MORE COLOR
Impossible to miss this trend: the colorful wedding. We put on a lot of lively and bright colors: from olive green to mint green, lemon yellow, terracotta and even dusty pink.
6. UNSTRUCTURED
Identical tables and precise cutlery layouts are a thing of the past. Place for destructuring. We keep the same visual identity but we configure the tables differently. We do not hesitate to change the towels or vary the flowers, for example.
7. WE WANT GREEN
If the color green is making a strong comeback this year, the trend is also towards green spaces. Wide expanses of grass and large estates reminiscent of the South of France. A feeling of change of scenery while staying in Belgium.
8. INVITE LESS TO ENJOY MORE
The pandemic has brought its share of changes in the organization of weddings. Among them, the reduction in the number of guests. But not to the detriment of the moments shared together. We reduce the list, but we lengthen the days. We leave, for example, a weekend in a cottage with the whole family.
For more inspiration, the Belgian Wedding Festival will be held on March 12 and 13 in the Grange de Hors-Champs in Gembloux. Several activities will be offered to support the bride and groom in their preparations
